Registering a proprietorship firm in Nepal

There are some procedures that need to be followed for the registration of a proprietorship business firm in Nepal.
The sole proprietorship, according to Section 3 of the Private Firm Registration Act, 2014, requires the proprietor to register the business (proposed form) in either in Department of Cottage and Rural Industry (if it falls under cottage and rural industry) or Department of commerce in the case of commerce related firm or in the Department of Industry for any other kind of industries.

The person who wants to establish a private firm (proprietorship firm) to set up a business, it must be registered by submitting an application to the concerned department in a manner as prescribed by the department paying prescribed fees. The application should contain the following information:

1. Name of the firm to be registered
2. Address of the firm
3. Owner’s complete information- name, address, father’s name, mother’s name and grandfather’s name and grandmother’s name.
4. Objectives, functions, features and also the goods or commodities which are transacted by the firm. 5. Certified copy of citizenship Certificate of the owner is also required. 6. Depending on the department other legal documents must be provided.

Once we are done with above registration processes, we have to move forward to register the business in taxation authority.
